Ellos salvaron a una burra amarrada con una cuerda, pero quedaron sorprendidos al descubrir su secreto.
Una burra fue hallada con sus patas atadas en un campo en España. No se sabe por cuánto tiempo estuvo así, pero los rescatistas piensan que pueden haber sido años.
A esta deplorable práctica se le conoce como “rengueo”, pero jamás habían visto un caso tan terrible.

“Mientras mucho granjeros españoles atan a sus caballos con cuerda en sus campos, normalmente no les amarran las patas, y mucho menos de esta manera… es algo horrendo, barbárico y sospecho que tampoco es legal», afirma Sue Weeding, co-fundadora del Easy Horse Care Rescue Center (EHCRC).

Afortunadamente, la policía le permitió al equipo de EHCRC intervenir y rescatar a esta burra de su dolor y miseria. Un día después de navidad, la desataron y la llevaron a su centro e rescate. Allí tendrá un hogar en donde vivir, a menos que sea adoptada por una familia.

La burra no se encontraba en buen estado; tenía muchas cicatrices en sus patas delanteras, justo por donde solían atarla, y se veía bastante débil.
Pero los rescatistas estaban por llevarse una gran sorpresa. A pesar de su mal estado de salud, la burra se veía bastante hinchada. Después de hacerle algunos exámenes ¡los veterinarios descubrieron que estaba preñada! Así que en realidad no rescataron a una burra, ¡sino a dos!

Ella pasó de vivir atada e incapaz de moverse por años, a correr libremente a donde quiera. Aunque disfruta mucho su nueva libertad, ella nunca se aleja demasiado de sus rescatistas. A vivido sola por tanto tiempo, que ahora solo quiere disfrutar de una buena compañía.

We rescue a donkey on Boxing Day
Yesterday afternoon we were called out by San Javier’s policewoman to save this poor soul, who was terribly hogtied out in a field, even left to stand out without any shelter during the torrential rain we’ve had recently.We’d received many reports over Christmas about this donkey and had encouraged everyone to make an official police report, as this is the only way we can legally act. Yesterday morning, this video was posted on Andrea’s animal rescue page and she also urged locals to make an official “denuncia”. Thankfully, someone did and because of their actions, police acted straight away, seized the donkey and called us in to cut her free and bring her home.This is how, together, we can all make a real difference towards animal welfare here in Spain. The police in our area will help, because they know our rescue centre is here to take seized equines. We have worked with this same policewoman several times before to rescue equines including Diplomat, Christiana and Conker. She understands animal welfare and wants things to change for the better.This little donkey has survived quite an ordeal but she’s here now, in our stables, munching away and seems quite alert. Dorothea will be out tomorrow to check her – I suspect she may be in foal.As always, we have taken this donkey in conjunction with a police operation, but we receive absolutely no government funding towards her ongoing feeding and care.
